Our Commitments - Sustainability

Sustainability Commitment

VicComms is committed to sustainable business practices that protect the environment, strengthen communities, and support long-term economic resilience. We integrate sustainability principles into our telecommunications operations, project delivery, and procurement activities. From reducing emissions and waste on worksites to engaging local suppliers and supporting community development, we aim to minimise our footprint and contribute positively wherever we operate. We continuously review our practices to align with environmental legislation, client expectations, and the evolving needs of the regions in which we work.

Environmental Policy and Supporting System – ISO 45001

Our integrated Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) system is aligned with ISO 45001 to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible work environment. VicComms is committed to identifying and controlling workplace hazards, minimising environmental risks, and promoting a safety-first culture across all operations. We apply systematic planning and monitoring to meet our environmental obligations while protecting the health and wellbeing of our workforce. This framework helps us meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and our own high standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

VicComms proudly supports fair and inclusive employment practices. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to meaningful work, regardless of background, gender, culture, age, or ability. Our hiring and promotion decisions are based on merit, while actively removing barriers for underrepresented or disadvantaged groups. We also work with local employment services, training providers, and social enterprises to create opportunities for job seekers and emerging talent. By promoting workforce diversity, we strengthen our company culture and deliver better outcomes for clients and communities.

Social Procurement

Through social procurement, VicComms actively contributes to economic inclusion and community development. We prioritise suppliers, subcontractors, and hiring practices that deliver social value—such as providing employment for disadvantaged individuals, supporting local business, or engaging with Indigenous and social enterprise partners. Our procurement processes are transparent, inclusive, and focused on long-term community benefit. We believe in using our purchasing power to support fairer outcomes and build stronger, more resilient supply chains across the regions in which we operate.

We are dedicated to identifying and eliminating risks of modern slavery within our operations and supply chain. VicComms supports ethical sourcing, fair labour practices, and full compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). We assess supplier practices, maintain internal awareness, and apply rigorous due diligence in procurement processes. Our actions reflect our commitment to upholding fundamental human rights and protecting the dignity and safety of workers—whether directly employed by VicComms or engaged through third-party partners.

Indigenous Sites of Importance Awareness

VicComms respects and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work. We are committed to identifying, protecting, and avoiding disturbance to Indigenous sites of cultural significance. Our teams are trained to understand the importance of cultural heritage, and we consult appropriately with communities and regulatory bodies when required. By incorporating cultural awareness into our project planning, we uphold our obligations under heritage protection laws and demonstrate our respect for Australia’s First Nations peoples.
